In April 2016, we came to Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Elgin, IL to help the community experience life in Kenya, where families have no running water or electricity, and to find out how they can assist in improving life there for 300 orphans. With the help of God and members of Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Elgin and the greater Elgin Community, we have realized the first part of Mama Alice's dream by raising the $10,000 required to purchase the property for an orphanage and school.
The Fox Valley Daily Herald highlighted our cause in an article in the Neighbors & Classified section of the April 29, 2016 issue. See Northern Illinois United Methodist Church Conference article. Also see article for Mama Alice Foundation Irechelo.
Phase II of our project is completed and water is flowing! We raised $31,000 to dig a well (bore hole) and provide a holding tank which will provide a water source for a future orphanage and school. Water was located and the well was drilled in the summer of 2020. Can you imagine life without running water? We think about it every time we wash dishes or shower! Check out the video of what has been done!
Our next project will be to raise several thousand dollars to build an orphanage and school in Irechelo Village. Go to Donate to help the children of Irechelo. Check back as we make progress.
